A few years ago John developed a way of working with people with dementia (and their supporters) based on improvisation. Here is an example of one such 'funshop'.

In 2012, as part of the Luminate festival, John together with Agnes Houston who has a diagnosis of dementia and writer and dramatist Ishbel McFarlane gave a reading of prose and poetry on by people with dementia in the Scottish Poetry Library, entitled 'Singing Under Our Breath'. The following video features parts of the session.
